During this time of year when everyone is thinking about giving, I’ve decided that my theme this year will be around giving TIME.  I will either volunteer to help friends and relatives tackle a task that involves a lot of time or I will be giving gifts that will save them lots of time.

There are so many smart home devices out there that make our lives easier by saving time.  I am giving one of my relatives a robotic lawn mower!  How cool is that?  Robotic mowers have been around for a while but they were not as advanced as they seem to be now.  The mower checks the weather and knows whether it should be mowing the lawn or not.  It’s battery operated so no more gasoline stink or loud noise.  I’ve heard that it is so quiet some people mow at night!

The mower also uses the grass that’s cut as mulch for the lawn – since it cuts in small lengths, there is no need to bag the clippings.  Finally, it’s smart enough to go back to its home for charging and knows to cut on a schedule.

There are also the charitable organizations during this time of year that need so much help.  Toy drives, clothing drives, food insecurity – all are important.  But time is something that is truly valued as well.  And it feels good to volunteer for a few hours at one of your favorite charities.
