When was the last time you reviewed your IT contracts? Internet? Phone? Copier?

Contracts for these services often get overlooked because of the frenetic pace of business. Mounting responsibilities and urgent tasks push their review to the back burner again and again.  Even with in-house IT staff it becomes difficult to get to everything.

IT contracts should be thoroughly reviewed beginning 6 – 8 months before they expire.  Quite often your organization’s needs will change, and new specifications should be created with all departments participating in the process.

Explore new vendors or technologies for better pricing and quality of service.  You will be surprised at how much new technology is available after 3 years (the average time of a contract).  Internet speeds have increased and the price for them has decreased.  Due to competition in the marketplace VoIP services have also decreased in price.

There is usually money to be saved in printing due to improved technology of the printers/copiers. You can now produce “professional printing” in-house rather than having to send it to an outside printing shop.
